UPDATE – This event has now been postponed until 2019
It’s been three since we last rolled out our sleeping mats and trudged along the footpaths of Hawkshaw Farm in the early evening sunshine, ready for a evening of dares and scares at the incomparable Horror Camp Live. The event has been on hiatus, perhaps never to return; the summer of 2016 saw the installation of Snuffhouse After Dark, a 4 hour extreme horror survival event, which, tonally and operationally, could not have been more different to the bawdy japes of Horror Camp Live. Snuffhouse was quite the experience, but Horror Camp Live brought fun and fear in equal measure, and this is the combination I have sorely missed. Fortunately, the team at AtmosFear have now announced a brand new summer attraction, which seems set to deliver that winning formula once more.
Midsummer Nights SCREAM is a brand-new interactive theatrical adventure game experience for 2018. Described as a ridiculous and raucous romp of fiendish games, cryptic puzzles and tongue in cheek humour, this mash-up of ‘Carry on meets Crystal Maze’ will have guests stitches one minute and screaming the next. Creative Director JASON KARL said “live challenge experiences such as escape games and zombie runs are proving more popular than ever, and we wanted to present something along the same lines that is both scary and fun. Midsummer Nights SCREAM is a mixture of horrifying humour and madcap games, set in an immersive world full of zany theatrical characters, it is ‘silly’ horror rather than something truly terrifying”.
Midsummer Nights SCREAM was devised by the sinister mind of arch-villain (and returning character) Lockjaw, and will be presented by sardonic hosts Edgar Malice and Delia Bauch. Players will face a series of fiendish games inside multiple scare attraction environments and come face-to-face with various oddballs including madcap spinster Bella Telephone, mystic Shaman Rainblow and barbarian circus performer Boobikka.
Park Director ERIC DOWSON said “after the success story of our overnight Horror Camp LIVE! experience, which ran over 4 years, this new event continues our development of Scare Kingdom Scream Park as a summer destination for scare-seekers, and will take us up to our tenth celebration season at Halloween 2018”.
